Almeria: Horse Riding Tour Through the Tabernas Desert

Unleash your inner cowboy on a guided horseback ride into the Tabernas Desert. Stop along the route to learn about the natural environment, nature, geology, history, and cinema.
On arrival at the ranch, be welcomed by the guide who will provide you with your equipment and introduce you to your horse. Once ready you will receive a short training session to get to grips with animal-friendly horse riding. Then, everyone will set off on a tour tailored to the participants' level, supervised by an instructor.
Follow the "Desierto de Tabernas" ride for an introduction to the desert. Cross an open area of desert, with views of the mythical "Llano del Búho" and "La Tortuga". Ride through these unique landscapes and admire their geological formations.
See where hundreds of film and TV productions have been filmed, such as Indiana Jones, Game of Thrones, Exodus, The Sisters Brothers, or The Crown among many others. Later, return to the ranch, where you will say goodbye to your horse.
Route for all levels. The tour is carried out at the rhythm of the lowest level since it is a pleasured and quiet activity through the desert environment and the experience of riding a horse.
If there are higher levels in the group and the monitor considers it is convenient and possible, at the end of the tour, the experienced ones will be able to trot or gallop together with the monitor or at riding arena of the rancho. This standard tour has 2 options of itinerary depending on the environmental conditions and in case some of the participants have booked also our 4x4 tour.

The tour starts at Rancho Malcaminos. Some hours before the activity we will send you the instructions to reach the rancho. Its very important to follow exactly those instructions to arrive easily as if you ask your GPS to direct you without doing the 2 important steps we send, you probably will get lost. GPS doesn't recognise the ramblas of the desert.

It's also important to come with proper clothes specially, middle or long pants and closed shoes, suncream and impermeable in case of bad weather.
